In case you missed it, RCC had halted work over a N8.94 billion debt.

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, in a statement on Sunday, said that Julus Berger has also given notice of suspension of work on the site.

The minister said the contractors complained that the delays in the payment of agreed contract fees were slowing down work on the site.

Fashola said he received a similar letter to the one sent by RCC from Julius Berger on June 5, 2017

According to the statement, the Julius Berger letter stated;

"It has become evident that the required adequate funding for the continuation of the project is not available.

See How Man Poured Acid On His Wife For Delaying To Return Home After Visiting Her Parents

An Ugandan woman is in critical condition after her husband allegedly poured acid on her for delaying to return to their marital home after visiting her ailing grandfather.

Ms Jane Kyazike, 25, was on Friday admitted to Iganga Hospital in Uganda after her husband, Wilbrod Awor, reportedly stormed her parents' home in Kakumbi village and poured acid on her.
.
DailyMonitor reports that the suspect reportedly left his residence to harm his wife who is said to have left his home two months ago to take care of her ailing grandfather. The couple has one child.

Speaking from her hospital bed, the victim said that on the fateful night, she woke up to the sight of 'a man' in the house.

"I heard some movements in the house and when I tried to flash the torch on my phone, he poured some liquid which I late realized was acid, on my head and it spilled over the body.

The assailant reportedly fled when the victim raised an alarm. Kyazike's mother Ms Jamila Namwase, said she delayed to return to her marital home because as she was still taking care of her grandfather, her sister died in a road accident.

She added that the suspect had been frequenting her place, pestering his wife to return home in two days lest he harms both of them. Kyazike sustained severe body injuries.

Why Igbo Nation Should Work With The Yoruba Nation – Professor Pat Utomi

Professor Pat Utomi has said that the Yoruba and Igbo nations need to work together in unity in order to help develop the rest of the country.

In an interview with The Punch, Utomi spoke about the relationship between the Yorubas and Igbos and also the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

He said:

"All politics is opportunistic. I don't understand it, but I think that all this touchiness in the politics of the South-West/South-East needs to blow over. In my view, we have two stages of quick moves in Nigerian politics now: we need to build a South-South/South-East zone of development, where all of the South-South and the South-East works as a zonal development and it should go into a quick partnership, in terms of development strategy, with the South-West, and then engage other parts of the country that are interested in such a partnership. And I believe that there are many elements reaching for progress in the North that would like to engage with these kinds of partnership for development and the whole of Nigeria can profit from it.

"What people miss, which I find very sad, is that the story of state capture in Nigeria is the story of opportunism by a few people. Then people will say that they are representing northern interests. It is just a couple of 100 of them in their own self-interest. If not, the North would not be as poor as it is today. If they (northern ruling class) really represented northern interests, the North would flourish. But that is not the case. This is a group of selfish people who have taken the possibility of progress for Nigeria and have hurt their own people even more.

"People forget that one of the great heroes of Biafra was (Prof.) Wole Soyinka. He was actually jailed for speaking up (against) the injustices of 1966/1967 that happened to the Igbo people. He was harassed. So, it is not a new tradition from Yorubaland that people of conscience recognise that something is wrong somewhere. Therefore, wherever there are opportunistic people who try to capitalise on these in their own interests, there are people of goodwill and strong conscience who recognise differently. And I think this must be the project now, to get those people of good conscience to break this thing.

"The reason Lagos is as developed as it is, to the envy of everybody, is every simple. During the Civil War, the divide-and-rule game played by the Federal Government led to Igbos being eviscerated in Port Harcourt (Rivers State), which is part of Igboland. Igbos then turned to Lagos and the people of Lagos were welcoming of the Igbo people, and that is why Lagos is the way it is today as a strong centre of commerce in the world. I think that the lessons from that, which is the point I tried to make when the Oba (of Lagos) made a joking remark during the election that people took too far.

"Nowhere in Nigeria has been more welcoming of the Igbo nation than Lagos. The consequence of this welcome should be a bridge across the Niger, a handshake across the Niger, which has been used in terminology previously. The Yoruba nation and Igbo nation, which share a lot in terms of enterprise and values, should be able to work together and engage any other part of Nigeria, because it is in the interest of Nigeria to build a whole of all.

Asked whether Igbo governors could be affected for abandoning Kanu in 2019, Utomi said:

I don't know. It could. It may. But what matters is that there should be accountability for everything. There must be a time to account.

Federal Government Has Not Defeated Boko Haram – Ayo Fayose

There were reports that Boko Haram insurgents have been defeated, Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose has issued a statement saying its not true.

The statement statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi says, 'Boko Haram is not defeated. It has not even been degraded. The brutal killings by Boko Haram all over the place gives the lie to the APC-led Federal Government's assertion that it has won the battle against insurgency'.

"The battle is not over yet. In fact, it is raging fiercer than ever before. The gory killing of the oil workers confirms this. The wanton destruction of lives and property all over the place by Boko Haram also testifies to this fact. "Like the ostrich, this government is trying hard to cover what cannot be covered. Boko Haram ambushes and kills soldiers at will'.

"Gallant officers and men continue to fall in battle to the superior fire-power and higher morale of the insurgents. Boko Haram invades and sacks communities at will, carting away human beings and other resources. The insurgents throw bombs with reckless abandon. Is this the evidence of a degraded or defeated Boko Haram?

"Transparency International's revelation that the military inflate military contracts to siphon money meant for the war efforts explains why the insurgents are waxing stronger and remain undefeatable.

"The war against insurgency has become a conduit for the siphoning of the resources of this country. Boko Haram is now the pot of soup or "amnesty" largesse of the APC government."

"They keep pulling the wool over the eyes of the gullible with their lip-service commitment to the war against corruption and insurgency. But come 2019, they will know that the people are not deceived", he adde

Arewa youths set to review quit notice to Igbo

Chairman of Northern Governors' Forum (NGF) Alhaji Kashim Shettima of Borno State, at the weekend met with the Coalition of Northern Groups which gave the Igbo residing in the North October 1, 2017 deadline to leave the region.
The result of the two-day dialogue in Kaduna and Abuja on Saturday and Sunday respectively was a resolve by the groups to meet and review the quit order this week.
Speaking after a meeting with Shettima in Abuja, spokesman of the coalition, Abdullaziz Suileman, said the decision to review the June 5 Kaduna declaration was the outcome of consultations with leaders.
He said: "The chairman of NGF has taken the initiative, he invited us yesterday and we started negotiation.
"This is the first time we are meeting publicly with any leader on this issue. We will go on with our consultations. We are committed to the unity of Nigeria.
"We issued a Kaduna declaration, quit notice is just a part of it. We are meeting to look at our stand again."
Shettima gave assurance that the matter would be resolved in the interest of Nigeria's unity.
"They have shown a lot of courtesy and respect to the establishment. This is the first time they are sitting down with the leadership of the North.
"I started conversation with them right from Kaduna yesterday. We continued the discussion today. Insha Allah, in the fullness of time it is going to yield something positive.
"We reached a formal understanding, there are some challenges and we have to get solution to those challenges.
"A political problem needs a political solution. They hold us in the highest esteem.
"We will follow it up to its logical conclusion. Insha Allah, in the next couple of days we are going to hear good news from them.
"Definitely they have shown responsibility and commitment to the national cause. Intimidation and harassment will not stop them. They have wider plans to forge national unity and integration.
"My interaction with them was free, open and frank. They aired their reservations I also gave them my reason.
"Without preempting the outcome of their meeting this week I believe Nigerians will give a sigh of relief. Nigerians will certainly hear from them this week.
"I wish to call on the leadership of our brethren in the South East to equally take the opportunity, it takes two to tango, and rein in on Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB."
"It is only a fool that doesn't change his mind to review decisions and strategies. There is never a limit to who should be engaged in dialogue no matter what the situation is. After all, even armed conflicts of deaths and destructions often end through dialogue with persons who took up arms against a State.
"Some people may think the withdrawal of eviction ultimatum by the coalition wouldn't mean so much but to us as leaders and from our experiences, it is always dangerous to underestimate the capacity of any group of youths especially when youths come together and seem determined.
"There are millions of other youths that might have been following and supportive of the activities of the coalition of Arewa groups and as we know, issues relating to ethnicity and religion mostly get out of control.
"As Northern Governors, we do not take chances on potential violence unless on issues beyond our control" Shettima explained after the Saturday meeting in Kaduna
The Arewa groups on Tuesday June 5 released what they called Kaduna Declaration ordering the Igbo to leave the North on or before September 30.
Suleiman said all the northern civil society and pressure groups were by the notice mandated to mobilize for sustained and coordinated campaigns at their respective states.
He ordered: "They should mount pressure on government houses, state houses of assembly, local government council secretariats and traditional palaces for steps to be taken to ensure enforcement of the directives."
The move generated widespread criticisms with Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership demanding the arrest of members of the coalition.

500 APC members defect to PDP in Delta

The All Progressives Congress in Ughelli South Council Area of Delta State has lost over 500 members to the Peoples Democratic Party owing to the leadership crisis rocking the state chapter of the party.

The defecting members led by a former House of Assembly aspirant of the party, Olorogun Samson Okomitie, saying there was no future for the APC in the state.

Okomitie, who spoke during the defection in Ekakpamre community on Saturday, said they had decided to dump the ruling party at the centre following the lingering leadership crisis rocking the state and council leadership of the party in the state.

He noted that with the unresolved leadership tussle in the state chapter, there was no hope that the party could win any elective election in the 2019 General Election in the Country.

According to Okomitie, "We have decided to leave the All Progressive Congress because of the lingering leadership tussle rocking the party from wards, local government and state level without any attempt by the party hierarchy to settle the crises.

"For some of us, it has become evident that there is no party like PDP in Delta and it was also obvious that APC has a lot to do to compete with PDP in Delta considering extent the party had gone in the state with massive development."

He added that the development stride of the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and the internal democracy within the state chapter of the PDP convinced him and his supporters to join the ruling party from the opposition APC.

The defectors who were received by Ughelli South PDP Chairman, Mr Djegbe Oshetigho and other party leaders from the area, saying the party was open and ready to receive members of the opposition parties ahead of the 2019 elections.

‘Stop Eating Suya, Boli, They Cause Cancer’- Experts Warn

The President, Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Nigeria President, Prof Musa Borodo, gave this warning at a press briefing commemorating the 10th Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting of the association in Ado Ekiti.

Borodo warned that diseases such as colorectal cancer, liver cancer, helicobacter pyloris and other infections that occur in the gastrointestinal tract were usually not easy to detect when looking out for signs and symptoms.

He added that when the symptoms were obvious, they were often too late to treat.

According to him, about 10 percent of people in Nigeria are suffering from Hepatitis B – a viral infection – which he warned could lead to cancer, if not properly treated.

"This (Hepatitis B) is something that can be prevented, if you don't treat it, it could become cancer. So, it is a huge problem," he said.

Speaking on the theme, "Gastrointestinal Malignancies in Africa: Past, Present and Future," Borodo said it was chosen to create awareness on early detection of cancer, prevention and cure.

"The forum is to increase knowledge, expertise and foremost research of interests in diseases affecting alimentary canal," he added.

Borodo lamented that two cases of cancer at end stage are reported daily in the treatment centre.

The accused, who resides at Bola Ajibola Street, Ikeja, Lagos is standing trial on a two-count charge of obtaining under false pretences and breach of peace.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 9, at Royal Club, Oba Akran, Ikeja.

‘President Buhari Is Sick’- Oshiomhole Finally Reveals

He, however, said the was not as worse as many people may

He said the recent visit to the ailing president was a clear indication that those wishing him death have been put to shame.

Speaking with Vanguard on the development, Oshiomole described Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti as a mad man who is out to disgrace others.

He said, "President is sick but it is not as bad as what people are saying. Some were carrying rumor that he was on life support but people have seen at least that, that is not true."

On the constant attack on the president by Fayose, Oshiomole said, "I don't like to discuss Fayose because when he makes his statements, it only reminds me of an Igbo proverb which says that if a responsible man is having his bath after a hard day's work and he removes his dress in a local bathroom and a mad man carries the dress and the man bathing, seeing that the mad man has carried the dress, he runs out naked pursuing him, people will see two naked people running and they will say two mad men. So, sometimes, you just allow the mad man to carry your dress and go rather than joining him in his madness.

"One of my very good friends wrote something in the papers criticizing the pictures taken during some APC governors visit to the President, he said maybe a broadcast would have been better. But I ask, if the head of a family is sick and some people went to see him, first there is nothing unusual about that."

PDP chairman in Lagos loyal to Sheriff hands over secretariat to BoT, Bode George

Chief Segun Adewale, factional Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, on Saturday handed over the state secretariat of the party to the Board of Trustees (BoT).

Adewale, is loyal to Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, who was recently sacked by the Supreme Court as the National Chairman.

Adewale, told newsmen on Saturday that the National Caretaker Committee of PDP had ordered that the state secretariat should be handed over to Chief Bode George and other members of the party's BoT in Lagos.

He said that the order was contained in a letter signed by the Secretary, National Caretaker Committee, Sen. Ben Obi and addressed to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni.

The letter reads in part: "The attention of the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to the occupation of the PDP Secretariat at No. 56, Adekunle Fajuyi Crescent, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, by a group.

"Section 32(5) (e) of the PDP Constitution (2012 as amended) states that the Board of Trustees shall be vested with the assets of the party and shall serve as custodians of such assets.

"This is to avoid negative consequences that may arise from the tussle for the secretariat and in keeping with the PDP Constitution.

"The National Caretaker Committee hereby requests that you hand over the secretariat to Chief Bode George and other members of PDP Board of Trustees ( BOT) in Lagos State."

Speaking, Adewale said "I am going to hand over the key to the BoT as instructed in the letter.

"As you can see me, I have packed out my things. I am going to drop the key now".

He instructed all his supporters to stay away from the secretariat in the interest of peace.

"It is quite unfortunate that those, who as at last week Saturday, were campaigning against PDP while in Labour Party, now want to take over the secretariat.

"I was the one mobilising for the party during last Saturday local government elections in the state.

"Even at that, I am ready to leave the secretariat, the police asked us to sign an undertaking that there will be peace in Ikeja.

"I am not fighting with anybody, because if we continue this way, we will continue to lose elections in Lagos," Adewale said.

Barca players beg Neymar to stay after training spat

Barcelona star teammates said Friday they have begged Neymar to resist the temptation of moving to Paris St Germain after a training ground altercation with new signing Nelson Semedo.

Neymar
The French giants are supposedly ready to launch a record-breaking $256 million (218 million euros) move for Neymar, sparking exit fears as the Spanish club prepared for a Saturday "El Clasico" friendly matchup with Real Madrid at Miami.

The unsettled 25 year-old Brazilian stormed off the practice pitch in disgust and has yet to commit his future to Barcelona ahead of the transfer deadline, still more than a month away.

"It's true, something did happen, but that's sometimes what happens in training," Barca midfielder Andres Iniesta said.

"All the talk about Neymar right now, everything is magnified. Things like this can happen. It's a personal decision for him, but of course we want him to stay."

Strike partner Luis Suarez has formed a deadly partnership with Neymar and echoed Iniesta's calls for the interest from PSG to be dismissed once and for all.

"As soon as he clarifies the situation it's better for us and him. He will have his say when he is ready and as a teammate I will support him," Suarez said.

"Our relationship won't change. We want him to stay."

Boss Ernesto Valverde swerved the media on the eve of the match with arch-rival Real, but Iniesta sang Neymar's praises.

"For me, he's one of the best players in the world. He brings so much to the team and hopefully he will stay for many years," Iniesta said.

"He is worth more than $200 million or $300 million. His playing style suits us and he can only improve with us."

Neymar made an appearance at a Nike shop in Miami on Friday afternoon to celebrate the release of his new boots.

But the superstar striker refused to talk about the speculation and just posed for photographs with fans a day after the training spat at Miami's Barry University training complex.

Barca are set to return to Spain after the clash at the home stadium of the NFL's Miami Dolphins, but Neymar is still lined up to travel to China on business for the La Liga giants.

Biafra: Nothing binds Urhobo people, Igbos together – UPU president, Taiga

President General of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Worldwide, Olorogun Moses Taiga, has told those drawing maps that include Urhobo in Biafra to stop wasting their time.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has Urhobo and the entire Delta State in the map of Biafra.

But Taiga explained that Biafra and Urhobo do not even share a common boundary and there is nothing binding the Igbos with them.

Speaking with Vanguard, the business mogul said, "I take the position of the Southern Leaders Forum that some of those statements are for negotiations.

"We the Urhobo Nation know we are not even neighbours to some of those people who said we are part of them.

"We have the Ijaw to the west, we have the Edo to the north, and we have the Anioma to the northeast, so there is nothing that binds us.

"There is no correlation between us, and we also have the natural River Niger that separates us there is, therefore, no case in that.

"The issue is does somebody draw an artificial map and say Edo and Delta are part of his own.

"The Youngman, Nnamdi Kanu lives in England and makes all sorts of claims. The Southern Leaders Forum said any attack on any party of the South is an attack against the whole South, so we do not intend to select any nation in the whole of the South for special attack.

"We are not part of any other kingdom; we are the fourth largest nation in the country, and we've not fought hard enough to secure our rightful place, but our job is to try to articulate our position and ensure that we are due for recognition."

Only a referendum would save Nigeria – Annkio Briggs

Despitethe growing consensus by the majority on the need to restructure the country, not a few think that the nation needs more than that to move forward. One of those in that class is an environmental and human rights activist, Annkio Briggs. Even though she used to be one of the vocal advocates of restructuring, she now believes that only a referendum would save the nation. In this interview withWILLY EYA, she speaks on major issues of public discourse.

Nigeria is currently going through a turbulent period with tension building from one end of the country to the other. Among the people, there are all manners of hate speeches and echoes of disintegration. If you take a critical look at the development, what would likely be your conclusions?

I'm just exhausted in the sense that I cannot believe what is happening to us, a country like Nigeria with the quality and capacity of the people we have? I am shocked that the educated, exposed people all over Nigeria and particularly in the southern part of the country and specifically in the Niger Delta do not realize that it is not politics that is going to answer the question that everybody is asking today. What is going to answer the question is truth. We must speak truth to ourselves. As far as I am concerned, a southerner whether he is an Igbo man, a Yoruba man, Ijaw man, Isoko man, Ikwere man and so on must speak the truth to himself. If we speak truth to ourselves, then we have to answer the question of what do we really want?

Nigeria has already cracked and the cracks are very clear. What people are trying to do is to continue to patch the crack with cement and it is not going to hold. We must tell ourselves the truth and in telling ourselves the truth,  we have to decide what we want as a people. Now, look at what our people are saying today; the Igbo for instance, I agree that not all of them are saying they want to go but some are saying they do not want to go. This is why there is a need for a referendum. In the Niger Delta, you have Isoko, Urhobo, Ijaw, Ikwere, Ogoni and so on, they do not all want the same thing; therefore you must give them the opportunity to decide what is it that they want. That is why a referendum is important.

The Yoruba must have a referendum among themselves; the Fulani must have a referendum, the Middle Belt must also have a referendum. This is because we started the struggle for justice and equity at different times. Late Adaka Boro declared a war that lasted 12 days before even the first coup in Nigeria took place. That shows very clearly that somebody somewhere felt that there was an injustice being done to his people.

Then you have the issue of Biafra, the annulment of June 12, 1993 election won by MKO Abiola and so many of such issues. All of these things put pressure on the unity of the country and the desire of people whether they want to stay in Nigeria or not.

We cannot continue to pretend about the fact that this country has 36 states with six geo-political zones arrangement and over 400 ethnic nationalities, and that this country is clearly divided by ethnicity and religion. We are pretending that we are one people; we are not. We must find a solution and that solution lies squarely in equity, justice and liberty. If we have all those things in place, we would not be hearing the issue of resource ownership, we would not be hearing the issue of restructuring and referendum. This is because if we have equity, justice and liberty based on truth and the fear of God, you would see that people would do what is in their best interest. That is the only way the country can survive. But if those three issues I mentioned are lacking, even if it is one out of the three that is lacking, you would continue to have problems. In a situation where you have a country where one side has 19 states and the other has 17; you have a situation where one side has more lawmakers at the National Assembly as their representatives; if you have a

No hard feelings towards Obasanjo over 2007 presidential race – PDP chairman, Makarfi

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has said he has no ill-feelings towards former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.

Makarfi stated this on Friday, in a reaction to the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose's interview in the current edition of The Interview magazine .

Fayose claimed Obasanjo stopped Makarfi and ex-Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, from emerging as the PDP presidential nominee for the 2007 election. Fayose was the head of the PDP National Committee that searched for the party's presidential candidate in the said election and claimed that Obasanjo felt Makarfi was too smart to be controlled.

"As a loyal Obasanjo boy then, I went to Obasanjo and told him that in the committee that was set up, everybody seemed to prefer Makarfi, except one person and I who were in the minority," the Ekiti Governor revealed

When asked by Puunch if Obasanjo truly stopped him from emerging as the PDP presidential candidate in the 2007 election, Makarfi replied: "Whatever happened is history. No hard feelings towards anybody. God gives power to whom He wishes and takes at will. President Obasanjo was my leader and remains one of my leaders."

Don’t be cowards, don’t review Oct 1 ultimatum to Igbos – MASSOB tells Arewa Youths

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, on Friday challenged the leader of Arewa Youths, Yerima Shettima and his colleagues not to be cowards by reviewing their October 1 quit notice asking Igbos to vacate the North.

MASSOB issued the challenge while stressing that it was not bothered about Arewa youths' plan to review their quit notice earlier issued.

In a statement signed by its National leader, Uchenna Madu, the pro-Biafra group dared Arewa youths not to review its earlier order because the world is waiting to see what "political drama" they will create.

Madu said: "The review of the quit notice means absolutely nothing to us. We are not moved by their antics and I can assure you, we would not be found anywhere rejoicing over the review or withdrawal of the quit notice given to the people of Biafra by a coalition of Arewa youth groups.

"Whatever the plan or motive behind their ultimatum on Ndigbo to vacate the north should be carried out, or have they suddenly become cowards in their own land?

"The economic, social and rural developments of Arewa land are largely masterminded by the Ndigbo.

"MASSOB do hereby charge the coalition of the Arewa Youths not to back out from their threat against Ndigbo living in Arewa land.

"We advise Yerima Shettima and his 'cowardly colleagues' not to change their minds on the October 1 deadline,

"The world is waiting to see the latest political drama that will erupt in Africa.

"Your threats cannot stop MASSOB and other pro-Biafra groups from actualizing and restoring the independent state of Biafra.

"Today the so called Northern Nigeria is drastically, irreparably and condemnable divided both politically and religiously."

This is Why Igbos Must Leave North Now’- Nnamdi Kanu

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has declared that the entire people of the Southeast were in support of his secession agenda.

He dismissed reports that he was flouting court order by granting interviews, saying President Muhammadu Buhari and the Department of State Services, DSS, were the ones who regularly disregard the law.

In a chat with journalists yesterday, Kanu warned Igbos in the North to leave, saying, "It is up to them (to stay), they have been in the North, and they have been killing us (Igbos) since 1945. If you chose to live in the North, you chose to be a sacrificial lamb because one day, they will kill you".

Kanu also lambasted Arewa youths who gave the October 1 ultimatum to Igbos and described them as "street urchins".

The IPOB leader also gave his position on the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.

His words: "There will not be any election in Anambra on the 18th of November, 2017, and there won't be any going forward until they give me a date for a referendum.

"They know what to do, it is very simple. They should convene a meeting, I attend or I send my representative and they give us a date. That is very simple. That is the only way we can have elections".

Asked if he was not bothered that Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other Igbo leaders have distanced themselves from his call for election boycott, Kanu said, "No, I'm not because the people are with us. We control the people 100 per cent. And come to Anambra on the 18th of November, 2017, the whole world will be amazed".

"If people come out to vote, IPOB will not do anything. We are entirely peaceful. We are not stopping anyone from voting. If you want to vote, you can go and vote. We are democrats".

On his interviews and if he considered them being against his bail conditions, the IPOB leader replied, "You (journalists) asked me a question. Do you suggest I should ignore you? I am not giving an interview, I am responding to the question you asked me.

"The judge is a very learned fellow. She cannot stop me from speaking. Buhari and the DSS have been in multiple breach of court order after court order. I wish you can go to the DSS and ask Daura, what is his name? Lawal whatever his name is, the DSS Director General, why doesn't DSS obey court orders?

"They are the ones flouting the court orders. It's not me. What I am doing is entirely legal. You ask me a question and I respond because if I keep quiet, you see me as a very arrogant fellow".

Kanu said further that
Igbos who insist they will remain in North are on their own even as he declared that Arewa youths were not an issue.

"I don't know who they are. Inconsequential street urchins, badly educated. Not polished nor cultured enough to offer any opinion on any issue of great importance. So why should I respond to them?

"Nobody can stop us. We are unstoppable. I can say with every ounce of confidence, Biafra will come. If you like, go and own one thousand storey building in Kafanchan, that is your business. It has nothing to do with us. We are fighting for our freedom.

"Look at these kids here, they are paying fees to go to school. They are striving to survive every blessed day because of a very failed system of governance and you want me to abandon them because you own a hotel in Funtua? I can't do that."

Passenger Kills Motorcycle Rider Over N150 (Pictured)

23-year-old jobseeker, Ibrahim Sulaimon from Kogi State, have been arrested by officers of the Nigerian Police for reportedly killing a motorcycle rider, Rafiu Gafar, in the Ajuwon area of Ogun State over an argument on money.

The father of one, who was hit with plywood on the head several times, was confirmed dead at a private hospital in the area.

According to Punch Metro, a family member who pleaded anonymity said the victim left his wife and child for his daily bread on July 13 when the incident happened.

He said it was four days later that a policeman informed the family that he had been killed.

He said, "He went out that day for work. He always plied Ajuwon and its environs. But everybody was surprised when he did not return home. We searched for him for four days without any trace.
"Nobody knew anything until a policeman came from the Ajuwon Police Division and showed us pictures of his dead body. He told us that he was hit with plywood on the head several times that Thursday when he went missing, over mere N150." A witness, Jimi Ola, told PUNCH Metrothat Rafiu picked Sulaiman and a co-traveller, identified as Ibrahim Ahmed, at a Zenith Bank branch along the Ajuwon-Akute Road en route to their destination at Reality Plaza.

He explained that the parties agreed to a N150 fare.

He said, "When they got to the plaza, they gave him N500 and demanded a change of N350. "But
Rafiu told them that he didn't have the change and Ahmed offered to go inside the house to collect a N200 note from his wife. "However, because he was taking too long, Rafiu started complaining that they should hurry so that he could continue his work. "There was a verbal exchange between him and the suspect. The suspect became angry, picked plywood used to cover a cesspit, and hit him on the head." PUNCH Metro was told that the suspect abandoned the victim on the road.

After about three hours, some community leaders were said to have alerted the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ajuwon Police Division, who ordered a patrol team to the scene.

When the policemen arrived at the scene, they were said to have met Rafiu unconscious and took him to Tamara Hospital, a private hospital at Imole-Ayo bus stop.

The victim was reported to be bleeding through his ears, nostrils and mouth as a result of the attack.

The doctor was said to have informed the cops that blood had blocked his breathing organs.

During an operation to save the victim, he reportedly gave up. A death certificate, signed by the hospital, indicated that Rafiu suffered from 'Airway Obstruction' and died at about 3.45am on July 14.

The suspect, Sulaimon, an indigene of Kogi State, confessed to the crime in his statement to the police.

IPOB Replies Onitsha Monarch, Igwe Achebe On Anambra Election

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Thursday said that in as much as it respect the Biafran elders and traditional title holders in Biafra land who are making different comments over its decision to boycott elections in Biafra land starting with Anambra state governorship election, unless it is given a date for Biafra referendum, it cannot be intimidated by such elders and traditional title holders, neither will they set agenda for IPOB.

Obi of Onitsha Igwe Alfred Achebe IPOB in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, replying the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, who was quoted to have said that "IPOB has no right to stop election in Anambra State", when the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Anambra State chapter, paid him a courtesy visit, said Biafra elders and traditional title holders, including the Obi of Onitsha are entitled to their opinion.

According to IPOB statement, "IPOB is a well known peace loving organization around the globe which has not been involved in violent activities in Nigeria, but have been violently attacked by the Hausa Fulani dominated security apparatus in Nigeria, who derive joy in killing the innocent members of IPOB."

"We respect our elders and traditional title holders, like Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha and others who are making different statements regarding the IPOB decision to boycott elections in Biafra land starting from Anambra state election unless they give us a date for Biafra restoration.

"We believe they are entitled to their opinion but they cannot intimidate or set agenda for IPOB members from carrying out our decision. And they should know that they are human beings and cannot challenge IPOB worldwide.

"However, anybody who wants to come out and vote is free, but IPOB will not stop to fulfill the promise of boycotting the Anambra State Governorship election, come November 18, 2017 and we promise Igwe Achebe to come out and vote.

"IPOB will prove its formidability to Igwe Achebe and his likes on that very particular day that we are not politicians and we are not playing politics with Biafra restoration project because Biafra independence is the future of our children and unborn children.

The Onitsha monarch was quoted to have warned that IPOB has no right to stop election in Anambra State when members of Ohaneze Ndigbo in the state visited him, insisting that election must hold as scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the state, urging the people of the state to come out en mass to cast their votes for their choice candidates without any fear of intimidation and harassment. He was also quoted to have said that "the traditional institution in the state has endorsed rotation of governorship slot to every zone just like the town Union and Ohaneze Ndigbo have done, adding that Anambra North should be allowed to complete the remaining four years before power moves to Another zone."

According to Igwe Achebe "the election is for us not for the entire country, you cannot have a referendum in one part of the country without carrying other parts of the country along, and the government must support and sponsor it before it will be organized and not carving out some parts of the country for the referendum." "The election must hold and nobody or group of persons will stop it, nobody should come to our state to cause unnecessary tension"

For since two years me and Buhari Have Not Spoken Says Fayose

Ayodele Fayose, the governor of Ekiti state, has revealed that he made several attempts to speak with President Muhammadu Buhari before the president took ill.

In a chat with Interview Magazine, Fayose also disclosed that he has not spoken with the president in the last two years.

Fayose further spoke about his tense relationship with the president.

He stated: "Well, we met twice or so during the Council of State meetings.

"There is nothing personal. I represent Ekiti state, he represents Nigeria. That is the basis of our interaction. Nothing personal.

"For me, during our meeting, whenever any issue arose and I felt I should make a contribution, I raised my hand and spoke. That is it.

"I remember I tried to call him several times before he took ill.

"Then, there was this day I called again and the switchboard told me that any call from me must be diverted to president Buhari's chief security officer (CSO). And I felt that was very insulting.

"The CSO to the President is an ordinary policeman, who I assume, is just a little over and above my own CSO.

"I am a governor, a governor of a state. I felt that was an insult to the people of Ekiti State I represent.

"Yes my calls to him (the president) were diverted twice to the CSO. I refused to talk to the CSO because I consider it insulting."

Meanwhile, we previously reported that the chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Prof. Itse Sagay, described the Ekiti state governor Ayodele Fayose as an irresponsible clown.

Sagay made the claim while reacting to Fayose's recent threat to release damaging photographs of president Muhammadu Buhari to prove that he is critically ill in London.

Nigerian Doctor That Has Declared His Intention To Run For President In 2019 [photo]

Dr Thomas-Wilson Ikubese, on Monday officially declared his intention to running for president of Nigeria. Below is the full text of his declaration:

Fellow Nigerians,

I make this declaration with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes.

I weep for Nigeria, my beloved country!

Nations which were in the same league with us at independence have since joined the developed world, while we are daily retrogressing rather than make advancement.

Nigeria ought to be the pride of the black race. But today, we have become a global embarrassment!

This nation is blessed with vast natural and human resources. Yet, we live as though we are sub-humans.

Our albatross over the years, is largely hinged on the fact that those who manage our resources are ill-prepared for office, selfish and lack the vision for posterity.

In 2011, I wrote a book tittled MY PRESCRIPTION FOR NIGERIA.

In that publication, I stated the 23 areas that must be addressed for Nigeria to become the nation of our dreams.

Ever since, I've passed the content therein to our national leadership with very little willingness to so implement on their part, as this will make the occupation of political office strictly a seat for rendering SERVICE and not a ticket for self enrichment, taking the political and economic power away from them, placing it in the hands of the masses!

Seeing that our present crop of political leadership might never implement these recommendations, I have decided to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, so that I can put machineries in place for the actualization of these recommendations, which will birth the New Nigeria of our dreams.

I hereby call on our youths, which form 70% of the Nigerian population, to rise up and join me in this civil revolution through the ballot box come 2019, rather than recycle the current political brigades.

You the youths are the ones to determine the political platform under which this project shall be actualized.

I am but a Medical Practitioner, not a money-bag. So you shall all contribute your window's mite to the success of this project; our project!

Tell your friends, colleagues, siblings, parents, neighbours, that a new Nigeria is possible and together we can!

We shall not bribe electorates to get their votes come 2019. These politicians bribed them for votes not long ago, but now we are all suffering the consequences thereof.

SHARE and Spread this message far and wide.

Consider yourself the Campaign Manager of this project called REVOLUTION-NIGERIA-2019 in your locality.

In the days to come, I shall be making further submissions in the light of this all-important project.

A New Nigeria is possible!

Yes We Can!

Yes We Fit!

God bless Nigeria.
