‘CRK Must Stand As Separate Subject’- PFN Tells The Federal Government

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN has reacted to the collapse of Christian Religious of Knowledge, CRK, as part of an omnibus subject called the Religion and National Values.

Speaking after an emergency meeting held in Lagos, PFN President, Dr. Felix Omobude said the body was concerned at the contention and controversy over the revised Basic Education Curriculum.

Addressing reporters, Omobude said,

"We note the explanation by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) on some of the issues raised.

"However, the PFN maintains that whatever the case, there is really no need nor is there any justification for the needless confusion and uncertainty the NERDC has created which has opened up the implementation of the curriculum to the whims and caprices people with vested interests who want to impose their religious preferences on students.

"The PFN calls for an immediate reversal of the change of curriculum so that Christian Religious Studies can stand on its own as a separate subject just as it has always been.

"Collapsing CRK as only a part of Religion and National Values forecloses the opportunity of the subject being studied at the tertiary level by students who might so desire and this is unacceptable to us.

"On the question of the compulsory study of Foreign languages, as the curriculum has laid out, the PFN urges that the window be opened up to more languages beyond French and Arabic to accommodate other languages such as Spanish, etc. so that our children can enjoy greater flexibility in foreign language study and not be compelled to study a language they have no interest in, as it's being reported in some states.

"We are aware of orchestrated plans to subtly use this policy as a means of forceful religious indoctrination and we maintain our stand against it," Omobude said.

My Wife Is Pregnant But I Don’t Know If It Is My Baby – Man Cries Out

A Nigerian man who is doubting the paternity of his unborn child as conceived by his wife has lamented on social media about his predicament.

Hi, please I need honest and mature contribution on this matter. I love my wife so much, and I don't want to have a failed marriage, not so early.

My marriage is only 18 months old. This is my wife's first pregnancy, but I am having serious concerns about the paternity of the baby.

I trust(ed) my wife with all my heart and soul. She was away on a job training for 6 months. The training finished on May 19th and we made love same day. She told me she last saw her period in May 16th so we both assumed she was in her safe period by May 19th before we made love. Actually we didn't want pregnancy or a baby yet because we are strained by resources for now.

My wife started complaining of strong tummy pain, plus her period hadn't shown up by June 12, so we went for a pregnancy test and she was confirmed pregnant. In fact, the Lab attendant told me she is very pregnant. Days after I went through her chat while she was asleep and came across her chat with some guy, the chat was very suspicious.

Actually the said guy is a Gynecologist, so she had told him she was pregnant immediately after the test so as to get medical advice. In this chat the guy called my wife "luv", "dearie", talked about she visiting him, and my wife's response was to play along. At some point she even said she can't wait to visit the guy. The height of it was when the guy asked "how is our baby doing?"

I could not control my emotions after reading their chat, so I confronted my wife. She claim the guy was her best friend, that they met at her training. Actually she has always freely spoken to the guy via phone in my presence before this event so I had no suspicions until I read their chat. We quarrelled and she cried and cried swearing that she has never been with any man but me. She said she was heart broken I am doubting the paternity of her Pregnancy.

On June 26th, we were at the hospital for ultrasound scan and medical check up. The Ultra sound scan report says the pregnancy was 7weeks and 6days on June 26th. Now remember we first met on May 19th after about 6 months, also remember May 19th was three days after her period ended, she was supposed to be in her safe period.

Now Let's assume she conceived on May 19th, between May 19th and June 26th is not upto 7weeks and 6days. Again I confronted her with these facts and she's been very emotional, she threatened that we must do paternity test after the baby is born to prove me wrong, she also warned that she will make my life hell after that test for doubting her faithfulness to me.

Please I don't know what to do next, my doubt is not fading because the numbers and events don't add up, I need useful suggestions please.

Kindly note that I trust and love my wife, a part of me believes the baby is mine, its the maths that don't add up, and her chat with her Gynecologist best friend that keeps fueling my doubt. What is th

USA Mocks IPOB Protest, Says ‘Nigeria Will Overpower Those Calling For Separation’ (Full Story)

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington, has stated that Nigerians are capable of overcoming those agitating for secession.

Symington made this comment in a speech at an event held in commemoration of the 241st anniversary of American independence in Abuja on Thursday.

According to him, the first American President, George Washington, had warned that those who seek to weaken a country would always seek to start by causing disunity.

Symington said just like America, Nigeria would remain a united country because of its determined people and leaders.

He said,

"Every time we have been challenged, we overcame danger because we had visionary leaders committed to union and citizens committed to ensuring justice for all.

"Today, Nigeria is fortunate to have such leaders and citizens. Together, they are dedicated to keeping Nigeria united and just and to ensuring every Nigerian is heard and taken into account and treated fairly.

"Together, those Nigerians will overpower any call to divide this nation.

"Thanks to them, thanks to you, the lamp of unity and justice burns brightly both in our nations tonight. And the sight of a united Nigeria's light lifts Africa and with it, the world."

The US envoy said Nigeria's diversity is an inspiration to many countries.

He said that, just like the US, Nigeria's plurality was a source of strength.

Symington added,

"Wherever I meet a Nigerian, I ask 'What do you like the most about your country?' I like our diversity, our resilience, our energy, our warmth, our spirit, our food.'

"Just like the United States, Nigeria is a wonderfully diverse nation whose differences and diversity are sources of strength and reason for pride."

Stop Your Childish Attempts Of Ridiculing President Buhari – Activist Attacks Fayose

A Pro-Buhari activist, Osuagwu Ogochukwu has dismissed the claim by Governor Ayo Fayose that President Muhammadu Buhari is on life support in West End Hospital, London.

Ugochukwu said that Fayose should provide evidence of his 'Buhari on life support' allegations if he is sure of himself.

The Ekiti state governor had claimed that the Eid-el-Fitr audio message made by the president is fake.

The activist said this on Thursday, June 28, while insisting that Fayose has no facts about the president.

Osuagwu: "The same Fayose had in February 2015 alleged that Buhari was admitted in a London hospital and not billed to attend any chatham house lecture.

''This turned out to be false. The same Fayose had quoted the Hospital address then in 2015 to be located at Cavendish street, Cavendish Square, W2 London West End, London.

''For the records, there is nothing like West End Hospital in London. This alone shows that Fayose must have been misled by the so-called insiders feeding him with information about our President in London.

''Governor Fayose should rather stop all these puerile attempts at ridiculing the president simply because he went for medical vacation.''

That the governor in a statement by Lere Olayinka, his the special assistant, claimed that facts available to him shows that the president who not only has voice impairment, could not have spoken in Hausa to Nigerians on Ramadan day as claimed by the presidency.

Fayose added that the president is currently incapable of ruling the nation in his present health status.

‘He Has Been Away For 53 Days, It Is Time For President Buhari To Resign’ – Governor Fayose

Ekiti state Governor Ayodele Fayose has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to resign on account of ill-health.

According to the governor, the resignation would avail the president enough time to attend to his health and also allow the country to move forward.

Fayose, who addressed a news conference yesterday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, said Buhari has been away for 53 days, carpeting presidential aides for shielding the president's whereabouts from Nigerians.

The governor said: "Today, it makes 53 days since our President, Muhammadu Buhari, left Nigeria to attend to his health challenges abroad. No official information as to his whereabouts and his state of health.

"Like every other Nigerian, I do not wish the president dead. I have, therefore, maintained dignified silence since we were told that thePresident embarked on his second medical trip abroad this year.

"However, the recorded audio message which was released by thePresidency as the President's Ramadan message to Nigerians necessitated my setting the records straight today. No doubt, the audio message was only a damage-control strategy aimed at further deceiving Nigerians."

Fayose alleged that attempts were being made on his life for speaking out on issues of national importance.

He said: "In closing, let me state that I am not unaware of the various attempts on my life; I am undaunted as I remain committed to truth and fearlessness because a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.

"Dear Nigerians, even though President Buhari needs our prayers and we should keep praying that God takes total control of his situation, it is equally imperative that our leaders must tell us the truth at all times.

"It is time that the President takes the interests of Nigerians above his own and resign from office so that our country can move forward."

But, Senator Buruji Kashamu (Ogun East) faulted Fayose's call.

In a statement issued in Lagos yesterday, the senator stated: "Nigerians overwhelmingly elected President Buhari and if today he is having challenges, it is despicable for any reasonable person to play politics with it because nobody is above health challenges.

'It is unfair and condemnable for Fayose to continue playing God over the President's health condition; his ridiculous comments are invariably heating up the polity and fanning the embers of disaffection amongst Nigerians."

The Buhari Media Support Group (BMSG) yesterday criticised Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose for dishing out "cacophony of lies on the health of President Muhammadu Buhari".

In a statement by its chairmen, Austin Braimoh, and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, the group said it was not surprised by the governor's coments because of "his penchant for exhibiting the characteristics of a serial liar and a born agent of confusion over the years, who thrives in hate speeches and campaigns of calumny."

It added: "BMSG believes that most Nigerians are already familiar with the infantile character of the Ekiti State accidental governor; Nigerians are already familiar with his antics.

"Fayose operates based on his figment of imagination as he will never disclose his source of information or show proof of his utterances.

"Today, the same character is telling us that the President is now on life support in London. If his assertions are right, then he needs to be told that it is an improvement to move from being dead to a life support.

"BMSG, therefore, appeals to the loquacious governor to allow the President recuperate peacefully and return to his duties."

Police Mastered The Arrest Of This Notorious Criminal In Ontisha (Full Story)

The commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State was yesterday thrown into excitement following the arrest of a notorious armed robbery suspect, Chinemerem Elebeke, famously known as Meskana.

Meskana was alleged to have been terrorizing residents of the area.

His arrest is coming barely one month after the arrest of notorious kidnapper, Chukwudemeje George Onwuamadike, otherwise known as Evans.

Following his arrest, over 20 victims of the suspect stormed the Fegge police station Onitsha.

Confirming the arrest, DPO of the station, Mr. Rabiu said his officers had been on the trail of the suspect.

"I knew that if we didn't get him my area would remain unsafe," he said.

The DPO added that the suspect confessed to have robbed about 30 innocent victims at different locations, including Ogbaru, Fegge, Odoakpu, Inland town and environs, as well as petrol filling stations, shops, markets and some residential homes.

"As God would have it, on a tip-off that he was somewhere at Odoakpu, we mobilized and on getting there, we arrested him.

"His parents came in here begging for his release with N1 million but you know money is not everything.

"This is somebody who has caused much trauma to the society, including a pastor. Since his arrest, his victims have continued to flood the station to have a glimpse of him," he added.

Billionaire Kidnapper, Evans Sues Inspector General Of Police

The father of Chukwudi Onuamadike, a notorious, high-profile kidnap kingpin, popularly called Evans on Wednesday called on the Inspector General of Police to release his son.

Evan's father identified as Stephen Onuamadike was present at the premises of a Federal High Court in Lagos to personally depose to the suit against the IGP calling for the release of his son.

According to a Lagos based lawyer, Barrister Olukoya Ogungbeje who filed the suit on behalf of the family, there was no harm representing the alleged kidnap mastermind.

"I can confirm to you that Evan's father personally came to court today to depose to the affidavit. The family contacted us and that is why we are representing them," he said.

Ogungbeje further added that the suit borders on the infringement of the constitutional human rights of his client.

The Nigeria Police Force, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State Police Command, were joined as co-respondents in the suit.

The suspected kidnapper is seeking for a court's order directing the respondents to immediately charge him to court if there is any case against him in accordance with Sections 35 (1) (c) (3) (4) (5) (a) (b) and 36 of the Constitution.

He is on the alternative seeking for an order compelling the respondents to immediately release him unconditionally in the absence of any offence that will warrant his being charged to court.

In the suit marked, FHC/L/CS/1012/2017, Evans is contending that his continued detention by the respondents since June 10, 2017, without being charged to court or released on bail is an infringement on his fundamental human rights.

He argued that the respondents ought to have charged him to court in accordance with the provisions of Sections 35 and 36 of the Constitution.

It was further argued that the alleged offence committed by the applicant (Evans) are correspondingly intertwined with the constitutional safeguards as provided under Sections 35 and 36 of the Constitution.

In a 27-paragraph affidavit in support of the motion deposed to by Evan's father, Stephen Onwuamadike, it was averred that the applicant has been subjected to media trial without any court's order by the respondents.

Evans' father further averred that the media trial and news orchestrated by the respondents have continued to generate reactions in both print and electronic media without his son being afforded fair hearing and trial before a court of law.

The deponent also averred that since his son's arrest, all his family members have been denied access to him while media practitioners have been granted unfettered access to him.

The matter has not been assigned to any judge and no date has been fixed for the hearing.

Dangote Reveals Why Northern Youths Issued Quit Notice To Igbos; As He Calls Them ”Joblessness”

Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, has revealed that the high rate of unemployment in the country was why a coalition of youths from the north gave quit notice to Igbos.

Recall that the youth group had given a three-month ultimatum to Igbos in the northern region, citing agitation for the sovereign state of Biafra.

However, Dangote, on Saturday when a team of business executives from Lagos Business School (LBS) paid him a visit at his refinery and petrochemical projects in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, said that joblessness has created room for restiveness and anger among youths.

According to him, high rate of unemployment is the reason he does not sleep at night, not because of business ideas.

"Some guys who have no relevance and values came out to issue a warning that Igbo should leave the North. I am surprised everybody started talking about this nonsense. Why are we talking about it?" he asked.

"Obviously, in a place where there is a lot of joblessness, it is expected that this kind of jobless people would come out with all sorts of anger. We understand the reasons why they are angry, but they cannot justify their action when they have decided not to work. They only issue senseless warning to keep themselves relevant."

Another Nigerian With A Very Bitter Taste Of Police Narrates His Ordeal

This guy is so pissed. He kept cursing and cursing. He bears scaezar on instagram. He wrote;

Our policemen are animals, yes they are! Maybe I will apologize for this statement one day but tonight, I am completely unapologetic. These shameless criminals with ridiculous black uniforms destroyed the little faith I had left in this country.

They stopped me today at Iwo road, Ibadan. They asked to check my phone and I allowed them even though they had no right whatsoever to do so. After minutes of looking through the phone and finding nothing incriminating, they asked me to follow them to their station… Why?! On what grounds?! Am I under arrest?! If yes, for what?! One of them even removed my face cap and dragged my shirt.

Smh… Those bastards will not live long, somebody say Amen!

Of course I refused to follow them, so there was an hullabaloo at the scene and they refused to return my phone.

It's very sad that these ANIMALS are too shallow minded to believe that some of us are not fraudsters, that some of us actually work very hard to make the stipends they try to steal from us.

The Nigerian Police Force may have some good people but there are just too many uneducated and unfortunate bastards in the system.

The police is absolutely not your friend!

Please check my bio for my new number. God bless.

Sad Photos Of A Nigerian Girl Who Was Attacked With Acid Attack By A Lady Who Dreamt That She Snatched Her Husband

Oh No!..This is crazy!…A Facebook user,Ijeoma shared this sad photos and wrote;

Spirituality? Stupidity? Sheer wickedness?

This beautiful girl who made distinctions in her WAEC examination was bathed in acid by a married woman.

The reason?

Madam married woman claimed she saw this girl and her mother chasing her in a dream. In that same dream, this girl took her place as the wife of her husband who is a driver.

Madam Josephine the dreamer, woke from her dream, targeted this budding talent who is said to be the brightest in her family, and bathed her in acid.

I can't display all the pictures here because they are gory. But medically, she can't breastfeed her children when she eventually has them because her breasts are damaged.

An eye has also gone blind. All because she was seen in a dream taking the place of a full grown married woman.

Arewa Youth Leader, Yerima Reacts Angrily To Report That He Has Gone Into Hiding.

Shettima Yerima, The Leader of the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, who was among the youths who issued a notice to the Igbo to quit the 19 northern states, on Tuesday, said he would submit himself for questioning if declared wanted.

According to him, he was not on the run and had nothing to fear because he only expressed his views as a Nigerian.

He was reacting to enquiries by Punch correspondent, following allegations that he had gone into hiding in the Republic of Chad.

Arewa youths had, after their meeting in Kaduna some days ago, given a three-month ultimatum to Igbo people living in the 19 states in the North to leave the region or be forced out by October 1, 2017.

Apart from Yerima, those who endorsed the resolution were Nastura Sharif (Arewa Citizens Action for Change); Aminu Adam (Arewa Youth Development Foundation); Alfred Solomon (Arewa Students Forum); Abdul-Azeez Suleiman (Northern Emancipation Network) as well as Joshua Viashman (Northern Youth Vanguard).

But in an interview with our correspondent, the AYCF leader said he would make himself available if invited by security agencies.

Yerima said,

"I did not go into hiding and will never go into hiding. We need to put the record straight. For now, nobody is looking for me and I am ready to submit myself if I am called. I am not a joker. Nobody is looking for me and I am not hiding anywhere from anybody. I am in my village, I am a Nigerian. If anybody looks for me, I will submit myself. I am not above the law. I am not on the run."

While insisting that he would not go into hiding, Yerima insisted that the Igbo should leave Nigeria.

He said,

"Why should I go into hiding? I have a name, I have a face. I am not faceless.

"I am not hiding anywhere. Why should I hide? Where did I go wrong? Somebody wants to go and I said, 'go, you're free to go'. What is wrong about it?

"You cannot be in our country and begin to clamour for another country. Go to your place and declare your own country, not in my zone. It is a simple language. I have not committed any offence."

Her outcry had attracted the attention of members of the Calabar-Municipal branch of the National Association of Seadogs (NAS), which intervened with a donation of N20, 000 and a follow up of another N50, 000 yesterday.

Etido-Umoren said, "I noticed her when I went to the ICU to visit my cousin who later died. I noticed this little girl, Ozillia, and I made inquiries about her. In the course of my inquiries I found out that nobody was caring for her.

"The hospital staff had taken her like their project. I had to go and see the head of Anaesthesia department and told her what I could do and they gave the go-ahead. The staff at the Anaesthesia department had taken up the responsibility of caring for her when they discovered that her father had stopped coming to see her.

"The child had been in the hospital for about two months without the father. The child's mother and brother had died in the fire incident. So, I had to reach out to people and the first donation came from Seadogs.

"From what I understand, the father is from Benin Republic and the mother was from Akwa Ibom State but they were not legally married before this incident. In addition to the grief of losing his family, he was made to marry the corpse of the mother before the burial."

Etido-Umoren urged members of the public to support the victim in order to complete the remaining surgeries.

The Head of Department of Anaesthesia, Prof. Stella Eguma, who manages the ICU, said the three-year-old girl had just undergone her first major surgery.

She said, "We have been taking care of her for some time now, while public spirited human beings like you have just stepped in now. She just had the first surgery. She will need a lot of grafting because the skin was not enough. It is going to be a long recovery process and we are happy that she is responding."

President of the Calabar Municipal branch of NAS, Mr. John Nya, said the association felt touched by the development and had to intervene immediately.

"This matter was brought to our attention just three days ago and we instantly swung into action by sending in N20, 000 through the lady that brought up the matter. We have again brought another N50, 000 and it will not stop there. In fact, in the next two days we would have given N100, 000 for a start.

"The situation of this little Ozillia is very traumatic. We will drum support for her treatment. It is a worthy cause. We, as an organization, have always identified with the less privileged and we will continue to do that within our resources," he said.

In March this year 17 persons were admitted to the UCTH following severe degrees of burns meted on them as a result of an explosion linked to kerosene adulteration. One of them had died then.

Commissioner for Health Dr. Asibong Inyang who had visited the victims at the hospital had promised that State Government would investigate the occurrence and bring to justice those behind the adulteration.

Army Invades, Turns Lagos Hotel Into Operational Base.

The management of Little Palace Hotel, Ishawo, Ikorodu, Lagos State, has accused the Nigerian Army of forcefully taking over its facility.

It alleged that the manager of the hotel, Friday Imhanzuria, was arrested and detained for over two months at the Nigerian Navy Base, Apapa, for demanding the reopening of the hotel.

The counsel for the hotel, Moses Okosun, said although the incident happened sometime in July 2015, efforts by the management to seek audience with the military authorities did not yield result until February 2017, when the Army said the Lagos State Government authorised the use of the hotel.

Okosun said when he wrote the government seeking explanation, the state denied knowledge of authorisation, demanding proofs that it gave the order.

He said the hotel was considering suing the government for damages, adding that losses running into millions of naira had been incurred.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Little Palace was one of the two hotels on Tapa Street, Oke-Oko, Ishawo, a community under militant siege.

It was learnt that as the clash between security operatives and the militants intensified, many residents fled their homes, just as the two hotels in the area were shut sometime in June 2015.

Our correspondent was told that when the military entered the community, the two hotels were occupied and used as military bases. However, the owner of the second hotel met the authorities after a month and his property was vacated by soldiers.

The manager of Little Palace Hotel, Imhanzuria, said when he approached the military as well, he was arrested.

He said, "The hotel was opened in November 2014 and the owner, Mr. Ehioze Aimuan, is based in Italy. He asked me to manage the hotel. When the clashes between the militants and security agents increased and some DSS officials were killed, people fled their homes. We also shut the hotel.

"But the Nigerian Army broke the door and turned the place into a base for its soldiers. We waited for a few months, thinking they would leave, but they didn't leave. My brother advised that I approach them.

"When I got to their barracks at Odogunyan, Ikorodu, I was arrested. I spent 24 hours at the barracks before I was transferred to the Nigerian Navy Base, Apapa. I spent over two months there. They alleged that vandals stayed in my hotel and I must produce them.

"I denied the allegation. They kept me there for over two months and later released me without any charge. I was told that my family spent over N250,000 before I became a free man."

Imhanzuria said while the military continued to stay in Little Palace, they returned the second hotel to the owner, who had political connections.

The hotel lawyer, Okosun, told PUNCH Metro that the soldiers, after converting the hotel into their operational base, consumed assorted wines and food stored in the facility.

PUNCH Metro sighted correspondences among Okosun, the Nigerian Army and the state government over the matter.

Okosun, in a letter dated February 7, 2017, and addressed to the General Officer Commanding, 81 Division, Nigerian Army, called the attention of the GOC to the invasion, saying the hotel management needed an explanation.

The Army, in a letter dated February 23, 2017, and signed by one Colonel S.J.A. Ilori for the GOC, said soldiers had been withdrawn from the facility.

"I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letter. I am further directed to inform you that the military personnel deployed in the Little Palace Hotel nicely withdrew for some administrative purposes. Consequently, I am to add that you forward all enquires with regard to the hotel to the Lagos State Government who authorised the use of the facility for the soldiers for the conduct of their operation accordingly," the letter read in part.

Okosun, in a letter to the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lagos State, demanded investigation into the occupation of the hotel.

"The said hotel is still under lock and key despite the 'nice

38 Nigerian Universities Increase Tuition Fees Due To Poor Funding (See List)

The Nation reports that at least 38 universities across the country have increased their tuition fees due to poor funding by federal and state governments.

The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ibadan Chapter, Dr. Deji Omole, stated this in a statement in Abuja on Monday.

-University of Lagos (UNILAG) N14, 500 to N63, 500

-Ahmadu Bello University N27, 000 to N41, 00

-University of Nigeria N60, 450 to N66, 950

– Obafemi Awolowo University N19, 700 to N55,700 .

– Nnamdi Azikiwe University N20, 100 to N65,920

– Bayero University, Kano, N26,000 to N40,000

– University of Abuja N39,300 to N42,300

– Usman Danfodiyo University N32,000 to N41,000.

The statement which assessed the two years of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration, lamented that the government had made Nigerians poorer.

Omole said the public education was not taken seriously because "children of the rich and those in high offices" do not attend school in Nigeria.

The latest increment might be attributed to poor funding by the federal and state governments as ASUU poorly rated the President Muhammadu Buhari in the area of funding of university education.

ASUU also noted that it would be difficult for any Nigeria university to compete globally due to inadequate budgetary allocation to the educational sector.

Workers Welfare Ignored In 2017 Budget – NLC Cries Out

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) says workers welfare is not properly captured in the 2017 national budget.

The NLC President, Mr Ayuba Wabba, said this while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

"Our budget system is not transparent enough, if you look at the estimate of this year budget, a lot of issues have arisen, especially the allocations for capital and current expenditure.

"But importantly, the fact also is that a lot of issues pertaining to the welfare of workers have not been properly captured.

"On the issue of pension, we are very certain and convinced because there is a liability presently of over N300 billion that is supposed to be accommodated in the budget for the payment of pensions.

"Especially the contributory pension scheme which actually we have interfaced with the leadership of the National Assembly to try to see how this can be accommodated.

"And we are all aware that this has not been captured adequately. There are also some earned allowances which also have not being earned but a portion of it has being provided in the budget.

"So, in terms of how the budget directly affects the workers, I think some of the issues certainly have not being captured very effectively," he said.

On the overall performance of the 2017 budget, Wabba noted that time was of essence.

He, however, decried the late implementation of the budget, saying that substantial time has been lost in the preparation that ought to have taken effect.

Groups that fought Jonathan have lost their voice under Buhari – Abba Moro

Former Minister of Interior, Patrick Abba Moro, has expressed disappointment that the several CSOs and NGOs that cropped up to agitate for good governance during the Jonathan administration have all lost their voices since the President Buhari-led APC government came on board.

He noted that it was unfortunate that even though things appear to have become worse than they were in the past, only a few groups and individuals had been vocal since 2015.

Moro said: "In the twilight of the life of the administration of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, and even within the period of his administration, various save Nigeria organizations sprang up, various civil society organizations sprang up agitating for good governance.

"We had the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG). We had social activists all over the country agitating for good governance and in the extreme the removal of Goodluck Jonathan's government.

"In the course of trying to rectify basic anomalies in the petroleum sector, ex-President Jonathan attempted to remove oil subsidy because it was discovered that the whole concept was becoming some kind of scam, was becoming some kind of conduit through which a very large chunk of the commonwealth was being frittered away.

"Social activists, save Nigeria organizations, occupy Nigeria organizations sprang up to say no to removal of oil subsidy! When former President Goodluck Jonathan attempted to raise the pump price of petroleum product, same organizations promised to make Nigeria ungovernable for the government.

"Today, the Nigerian people are virtually pauperized, the Nigerian people are hungry.

"Yet, apart from isolated instances, all of a sudden the various civil society organizations, the various save Nigeria organisations, the various occupy Nigeria organizations, the various agitators have gone cold and no longer talking when nothing seems to have changed and things appear to have even become worst.

"I said with a few exceptions because recently the Bring Back Our Girls stood up to say that not much has been done in the drive towards solving the problem of the Chibokgirls. And they have been in the forefront campaigning as it were, as it was in the beginning against the plight of the so-called Chibokgirls."

Moro also faulted the approach adopted by Buhari to execute the anti-corruption war, emphasising that the fight against corruption in the current dispensation is more on punishment than change.

Jonathan Reacts As Ex-minister Wins 2017 World Food Prize Laureate

Adesina, whose name was selected on Monday, June 26 at Washington, D.C, becomes the 46th recipient and the sixth African to be so honoured.

Following his achievement, ex-president took to his Facebook page to shower praises on Adesina, who served as the minister of agriculture under his government.

According to Jonathan, he is not surprised at such honour being conferred on Dr. Adesina, as only few men on earth have the intellect and the work ethic of the ex-minister.

Jonathan said he is proud of the ex-minister following his new feat.

He said: "I congratulate the President of the African Development Bank and my former minister for agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, for emerging as the World Food Prize Laureate for the year 2017.

"However, if I must be honest, I am not surprised at such a honour being conferred on Dr. Adesina. I have met many men in my years on earth, but few have the intellect and the work ethic of Akinwumi. During his years as Nigeria's agriculture minister he introduced several innovations like the e-wallet fertilizer and seed distribution system which cut out the middle man, eliminated corruption and expanded Nigeria's ability to feed herself.

"Under his guidance, Nigeria came out from the floods of 2012 without a famine. He oversaw a program that reduced our food import bill by almost 50% and working with others in my administration he helped Nigeria become one of only a handful of nations in the world to reduce hunger levels between 2011-2015 according to the International Food Policy Research Institute. I am proud of you Akin. Please accept my congratulations on behalf of my family and I and all those who served with me during my administration."

In attendance to witness Adesina's great feat were some past awardees, Nigeria's former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Nigeria's Acting Ambassador to the U.S. and Chargé d ' Affaires, Amb. Hakeem Balogun.

Others include officials of the World Food Programme, members of the Diplomatic Corps and other U.S. officials.

The award ceremony would take place Oct. 19.

The Spanish Government today, Tuesday deported 23 Nigerians for committing various offences in the country, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

They were deported barely five days after 34 Nigerians were sent home from six European countries for committing immigration-related offences. Reports suggests that 34 Nigerians were jointly deported by six European countries on June 22 for committing immigration-related offences.

The deportees were sent back home from Switzerland, Germany, Iceland, Austria, Belgium and Hungary. It was also gathered that the new set of deportees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMlA) Lagos, at about 6.40 a.m on Tuesday.

The new deportees, comprising 21 males and two females, were brought back in a privilege style aircraft with registration number EC-IZO. DSP Joseph Alabi, the spokesman of the Lagos Airport Police Command, confirmed the development.

Alabi said that the deportees were received by officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Police. He said that others also on ground to receive them were officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Former NFL player, Ahman Green arrested for allegedly punching his 15-year-old daughter over 'dirty dishes'

Former NFL player Ahman Green, who's the all-time leading rusher for the Green Bay Packers, has been arrested for allegedly punching his 15-year-old daughter over 'dirty dishes.'

He was arrested Monday morning after cops responded to his Wisconsin home at 11:26 AM following a 911 call from a neighbor.

According to Police report, Ahman's daughter said they had been arguing all day long about chores. She said that she didn't want to wash the dishes and tension mounted between her and Ahman.

In the report, she claimed the ex-NFL star grabbed her, threw her to the ground and up against the kitchen cabinets before punching her in the face.

Upon arriving at the scene, police officers noticed her left eye was "swollen, slightly black and blue, and had two minor scratches."

Narrating a totally different version of the story, Ahman admits they were arguing, and things got physical. But insists he did not punch her. Instead, he says he "slapped her upside the head" and her glasses caused the damage to her face.

In his defense, he says he was physically disciplining his child and didn't abuse her.

Ahman Green has since been arrested and charged with physical abuse of a child-intentionally causing bodily harm (a felony) and disorderly conduct (a misdemeanor). He faces six years in jail and/or a $10,000 fine for the physical abuse charge.

According to ESPN, he is scheduled to appear in court on July 11.

Green who's the Packers' all-time leading rusher, scored 54 rushing touchdowns, added 14 receiving scores to go along with 2,726 yards on 350 catches and in 2014, he was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame.

Shocking:Nigerian manFinds Out He’s Not The Father Of ‘His 2 Sons’ Through DNA Test.

A Nigerian based in UK man who sparked off serious debate online after revealing his intentions of conducting DNA test on his two sons after expressing doubts about his wife's faithfulness has finally given a report of the deoxyribonucleic acid, DNA test.

He wrote to Ben saying:

"Ben it is with a painful and heavy heart that I am coming back to your inbox for the third time. I am very sorry for that a simple request you posted for me degenerated into such a viral issue. I have been following up all these while and couldn't help but wonder how a simple harmless post could be taken so far. I read it on many blogs and even watched it on TVC.

I also read that our group Ila Otu was shut down because of the post and your personal Facebook account was shut down too until you sent your identity card to Facebook and your account was verified. I also read that you received some threats from unknown Facebook accounts. I am indeed very sorry that you have to go through all these.

But Ben, the sad unfortunate truth now is that I have been training another man's kids for the past six years. I went to one of the suggested hospitals with just a sample from their body. I didn't carry the kids to the hospital to avoid suspicion from my wife. Bro, do you know that none of my assumed two kids were actually mine.

The DNA report shows that there is no biological link whatsoever between my assumed two kids and myself. God! This is the most trying moment of my life. My wife is not yet aware and she will never know until I figure out how best to handle this. I have to rush back to UK because I may lose it if I continue staying here with her and my assumed kids. I promise myself that I won't do anything stupid that will put me behind bars, no way. At least I get to know on time, my assumed first son is six while the younger brother is four.

Ben, what and how do you think is the best way to handle this ugly situation? I won't do stupid things. Before I made up my mind to go for this DNA, I have decided to take whatever comes out of it, in fact did I tell you that my instincts never lied to me? So I was emotionally and physically prepared to handle this. Bro, I always trust your judgment, what do you advise?"

No President Can Perform Magic When There Is Tension – Ex President Jonathan Says

Speaking in Abuja on Monday when he played host to a delegation of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ministers, Jonathan called on Nigerians to pray and work towards the nation's unity, TheCable reports.

"We should always use this period to know that the unity of the country is paramount," he said.

"We cannot develop as a nation, no matter how people demonstrate, and no president can do magic if there is tension in the land.

"This is because immediately there is a sense of insecurity in any country, investors will go back and when investors go back, of course, the economy will dwindle.

"What improves the economy is confidence and what makes investors have confidence is peace.

"Nobody wants to invest where there is no peace, except those that invest in arms and ammunition.

"We should all pray and work toward that peace, that is the only way we can grow our economy."

Nnamdi Kanu Receives Warning Letter from APGA Over ‘Careless Utterances’

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has decried Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, leader, Nnamdi Kanu's call on Anambra people to shun forthcoming gubernatorial poll in the state.

The party, in a letter to Mr. Kanu, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ifeatu Obiokoye, and made available to the media in Awka on Monday, said the call was irresponsible and devoid of intellectual focus.

It said that Kanu had no authority to speak for the Igbos of the South-East, although APGA acknowledged him as the leader of IPOB. It explained that Biafra's concept was a metaphor for the demand for equity and fair play in the Nigeria state and not a separatist movement.

"Nnamdi Kanu's call for a boycott of elections in the South-East, beginning with the governorship polls scheduled for November 18, 2017 in Anambra is irresponsible, irredentist and totally devoid of any focus.

"You must appreciate that for different logical reasons and perception, the Biafra concept has attracted favourable comments among our people, ostensibly borne out of the marginalisation of Ndigbo in the Nigerian state.

"While youths of the East are agitating for Biafra, the Arewa youths are equally restive; the same goes for Níger Delta youths and youths from Oduduwa states.

"In this popular agitation for Biafra, Ndigbo have not instituted a separatist movement or a terrorist gang as it were. We are more concerned about the continued existence of Nigeria under the present structural arrangement," it said.

The party said that it stood for restructuring and implementation of the 2014 National Conference resolutions "as a certain way to peaceful co-existence among ethnic nationalities and for dousing tension.

It urged Mr. Kanu not to be carried away by the success of the May 30 sit-at-home call, which was attributable to many reasons, including fear.
It demanded a re-visit and implementation of the report of the 2014 national conference, which arguably addressed the parameters for the restructuring of the nation.

The party reminded Mr. Kanu that the right to vote and be voted for was a universally declared right under the United Nations Charter of People's and Citizenship Right, and in the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

It advised the IPOB leader to drop his "emperor" perception of himself "and humble yourself to the true leadership of Ndigbo for a proper and better articulation of the Biafra struggle.
